DESCRIPTION:  This is a very large, amazingly prepared and gorgeous fossil of the Jurassic era crustacean Aeger spinipes, preserved within the world-famous Solnhofen limestone of Eichstatt, Germany.

This complete and exquisitely prepared specimen of Aeger spinipes is situated in the upper third of a large and beautiful slab of Solnhofen limestone, with the rostrum, carapace, abdomen and uropod exceedingly well-preserved and intricately derived, as are the legs, with the delicate fimbria of the more anteriorly situated swimming legs elegantly depicted, and with nearly all of the remaining legs well-defined.  Three antennae arise from the rostrum, extending both anterior to and arcing gracefully just below the level of the shrimp.  The slab of Solnhofen limestone further enhances the beauty of this specimen, with glorious patinas of orange to orange-brown staining melding into intermixed gray which serves to contrast with the fossil’s natural coloration.  Two partial thickness and well-repaired fine cracks involve the right lower corner of the slab, being far distant from the location of the fossil. The magnificent artistry of the preparator, just as with a fine piece of art, greatly enhances both the beauty of this specimen and its value, aesthetic and otherwise.  This is a superb, amazingly well-prepared example of a quite large and beautiful Solnhofen shrimp with uncommon preservation.
