DESCRIPTION:  This is a very nice and well-prepared example of a horseshoe crab fossil derived from the world-famous Solnhofen limestone of Eichstatt, Germany.

This fossil is well-situated upon the matrix in the ventral (underside) posture and is complete.  The prosoma (head), carapace  and telson are beautifully defined, and the preparation is exquisite.  The proximal (beginning) portions of the walking/eating legs with pincers are clearly seen. The book gills with gill flaps can even be appreciated, though subtle.  This is an excellent specimen for the collector which combines both scientific rarity with distinguished preparator skill.
